CSUSM Starts Strong Before Falling to Nevada in Exhibition Action
RENO, Nev. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team unofficially opened its 2025-26 season with a 70-53 loss to Nevada on Monday night at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM took an early 2-0 lead just 20 seconds into the game on a jumper by Kristan Yumul.
 - The Cougars regained the lead at 12-10 late in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Sydney Hani.
 - The Cougars and Wolf Pack traded baskets in the opening quarter, which ended tied at 15-15.
 - The Cougars led by as many as three points in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Tatum Tamashiro.
 - CSUSM took a 32-28 deficit into the halftime break after shooting 39.3% (11-of-28) from the field and 40.0% (6-of-15) from beyond the arc, while Nevada shot 43.8% (12-of-40) and 20.0% (1-of-5) from three.
 - Nevada used a 12-0 run late in the third quarter to break open a close game, outscoring CSUSM 22-8 in the period to take a 54-36 lead.
