Cougars Complete Series Sweep of Gators on Senior Day
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (25-15, 24-11 CCAA) earned its fifth consecutive win as it swept San Francisco State (23-19, 17-15 CCAA) in a four-game series with a 6-1 victory in the home finale on Sunday at CSUSM Baseball Field.
Prior to the game, CSUSM honored seniors Bradley Chesterton, Niko Diaz, Hayden Johns, Emilio Luna, Sean McGrew and Luke Reece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars struck first in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly by Mahaffy to center that scored Sommay and made it 1-0.
- A four-run fourth inning for CSUSM included an RBI double by Castaneda and a three-run homer to left center by Sommay to make it 5-0.
- An RBI single up the middle by Ethan Rivera put the Cougars up 6-0 in the bottom of the eighth.
- The Gators scored their lone run of the game on a solo shot to center by Justin Johnson in the top of the ninth.

- Cougar reliever Bruno de Leon (1-1) earned the win after throwing one strikeout with only a hit allowed in 2.0 innings.
- Gator starter David Eichhorn (4-2) took the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits, three walks and a hit-by-pitch while striking out three in 6.1 innings.
- CSUSM is still first in the CCAA standings entering its final weekend of conference play, leading Cal State Monterey Bay by a game and a half.
