Albayati Snags Second Consecutive FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week Honor
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, Jillian Albayati of Cal State San Marcos has been picked as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week.
Albayati slashed .636/.692/1.364 in four games last weekend to earn Most Valuable Player honors of the D2 West Coast Challenge in Lake Elsinore, California. She went 7-for-11 (.636 batting average) with two doubles, two home runs, drove in eight runs and scored three times in leading the Cougars' offense to out-scoring teams 40-6. Albayati also walked twice and struck out just once in 13 plate appearances. Her .692 on-base percentage and 1.364 slugging percentage combined for an incredible 2.056 OPS.
The senior shortstop from Anaheim had three two-hit games, including going 4-for-4 with a grand slam, a two-run homer and seven RBIs in the doubleheader on Friday as the 14th-ranked Cougars defeated Lubbock Christian (8-0) and Regis (18-2) in run-ruled five-inning games. Albayati also had a pair of hits with an RBI double in a solid 3-2 win over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday before closing out the tournament with a double in a 11-2 win over Colorado Mesa.
After two weekends, Albayati now leads the CCAA in batting average (.607), slugging percentage (.1.143), on-base percentage (.656), OPS (1.799), and RBIs (18). She shares the league lead with four homers. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard.
