Laiwa-McKay Takes Bronze on First Day of CCAA Championships

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw its first podium finish on the first day of CCAA Track & Field Championships on Thursday at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on the campus of Stanislaus State.
 
TOP PERFORMERS

  • Kalathan Laiwa-McKay took bronze in the discus throw with a mark of 46.47 meters – the third-best throw in program history - earning the Cougars six points.
  • Juan Leyva gave CSUSM five points in the hammer throw with a fourth-place mark of 49.80 meters. Laiwa-McKay added another three points with a sixth-place finish at 49.63 meters.
  • Renton McGregor and Braden Oberg qualified for the final in the 800-meter run with prelim times of 1:54.94 and 1:55.15.
  • Gio Moya qualified for the 400-meter hurdles final with a prelim time of 55.92.
  • Jayson Oliver was CSUSM's top finisher in the 10,000-meter run with an 11th-place finish of 33:11.98.
