COURSE REPORT: Sankalp Shastri led the Cal State San Marcos men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish in the Cal State Fullerton Mark Covert Classic Invite with 188 points.
 
FINISH LINE

• Shastri, who finished the race last year in a time of 26:23.5, made much improvement with a time of 25:36.0 to place 36th.
• Renton McGregor also improved on his time from last season (26:25.4) at the Mark Covert Classic, with a time of 25:38.8 for 38th place.
• Running in their first races as Cougars, Aktalty Gebru and Diego Lopez took 54th (25:53.6) and 59th (26;04.3) places, respectively.
• Mark De Haro made his collegiate debut with a time of 26:09.4 for 63rd place.
• Trevor Boaz and Jason Morse rounded out CSUSM scorers with 68th (26:16.7) and 79th (26:38.7) place finishes.
