Pulvers Releases 2024 Men's Soccer Schedule

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A year after making its first CCAA Tournament appearance and earning its first postseason win in the NCAA Division II era, the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team will look to build upon last season's success as Head Coach Ron Pulvers announced the Cougars' 2024 schedule on Thursday.

"This is a very unusual season in that we only have one week of training camp prior to school starting," Pulvers said. "So, from that standpoint, we are already in a challenging position. Add to that a rigorous non-conference schedule and we have our work cut out for us to be sure. We will be tested with three excellent scrimmages prior to opening countable matches the opening weekend against perennial top-25 teams University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Colorado Mines. I am really excited for our guys to compete against two of the top teams in the RMAC and South Central Region. We then turn our attention to the usual out-of-conference opponents in the PacWest before opening play in the CCAA."

CSUSM will kick off its season on Sept. 5 by hosting Colorado Colorado Springs before welcoming Colorado School of Mines for a Senior Day match on Sept. 7. The Cougars will then host Concordia University Irvine in their final home non-conference game on Sept. 11. CSUSM will then go on a long six-game road trip for non-conference games at Vanguard (Sept. 14), Biola (Sept. 18), Westmont (Sept. 21) and Cal State East Bay (Sept. 28) and the start of CCAA play at Sonoma State (Oct. 4) and Cal Poly Humboldt (Oct. 6).

After a month away from The Cage, CSUSM will return home for three games against Cal State San Bernardino (Oct. 11), Cal Poly Pomona (Oct. 13) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Oct. 17). The Cougars will then play their final three road games of the regular season at San Francisco State (Oct. 20), Cal State Dominguez Hills (Oct. 25) and Cal State LA (Oct. 27). CSUSM will then return home for its final three games of the regular season against Stanislaus State (Nov. 1), Chico State (Nov. 3) and Cal State East Bay (Nov. 7).

"The CCAA is anticipated to set the standard as arguably the toughest NCAA Division II conference once again in men's soccer," Pulvers said. "That said, we have a mature team with a lot of quality, and we will be ready for the journey."

Should CSUSM be one of the top six teams to qualify for the CCAA Tournament, it would begin competition with first-round games at campus sites on Nov. 10 before the semifinals and championship game on Nov. 15 and 17 at Cal State East Bay.
