SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 14 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team will begin its 2024-25 campaign at the WT Regional Preview in Amarillo, Texas, on Monday and Tuesday.
COUGAR OUTLOOK
- For the second consecutive year, the squad added two new Cougars in the lineup — freshmen Faith Hamstreet and Abigail Sickles.
- The Cougars won their fifth consecutive CCAA Championship title in 2024, defeating second-place Cal State Monterey Bay by 27 strokes.
- Regan Barton become CSUSM's fourth CCAA Champion, recording a 2-under 214 at the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club.
- After a fifth-place finish in the NCAA West Regional, CSUSM made its third appearance in the NCAA National Championships, finishing 12th in stroke play.

2024 TOURNAMENT OPENER
- This is CSUSM's first time competing in the WT Regional Preview, which is normally called the WT Fall Invitational.
- The Cougars have competed in a West Texas A&M Tournament before, but it was played in the fall in Arizona.
- The Cougars will play three rounds (two on Monday) in two days.
THE HUTTON FILE
- Head coach Greg Hutton has been at the helm of the men's program since the 2010-11 season and was named the women's head coach in 2014.
- The CSUSM women's team was the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship runner-up, led by National Champion Jaime Jacob.
- CSUSM men's golfer Matt Pennington was the program's first-ever CCAA Champion and NCAA West/South Central Regional Champion in 2022.
- Under Hutton's leadership, the women's team won CSUSM's first CCAA Championship in school history in 2018 and the Cougars defended their title in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
- In 2023, the CSUSM men's team captured its first-ever CCAA Championship Tournament Title, defeating runner-up Cal State Monterey by one stroke on April 19 at the Victory Club in Riverside.
- In CSUSM's first year of being a full-fledged NCAA Division II member in 2017-18, the Cougar men's and women's golf teams each qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
