WALNUT, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team recorded an NCAA provisional and three top-10 program marks to begin the year at the Kamaka Open on Saturday.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Kalathan Laiwa-McKay won the shot put with an NCAA provisional mark of 17.03 meters. Newcomer Cody Purvis posted the sixth-best mark in program history at 13.73 meters.
- Jason Wells finished fourth out of 56 in the 200-meter dash and tied for the eighth-best time in program history at 21.99 seconds. Dre Johnson finished fifth at 22.12 seconds.
- Laiwa-McKay took third in the discus throw at 44.21 meters as Will Prouty recorded the ninth-best toss in team history at 42.98 meters.
- Mateo Gomez finished third out of 42 in the long jump with a mark of 6.75 meters.
- Dorian Fillmore finished fifth out of 20 in the high jump at 1.85 meters. He also finished fifth out of 15 in the triple jump at 12.94 meters.
