SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Jordyn Brooks of women's track & field and Kyelin King of men's basketball have been named the Cal State San Marcos Student-Athletes of the Month for December 2024.
The CSUSM Student-Athlete of the Month awards are determined through a vote of all Department of Athletics coaches, administrators and staff. Each in-season program nominates a student-athlete to be considered for the award each month.
Brooks began the first half of the indoor season with a school record and NCAA provisional. At the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite, the sophomore from Long Beach started the meet by recording the second-longest long jump in the program's indoor history with an NCAA provisional of 5.72 meters. She followed that up by breaking the program's triple jump record with a mark of 11.44 meters.
King led the team with 15.5 points per game and a .500 field-goal percentage while coming down with 4.0 rebounds per game. The freshman from San Diego scored a season-high 24 points to go along with five rebounds, two steals and an assist against then-No. 19 Cal State San Bernardino.
This is the first CSUSM Student-Athlete of the Month honor for both Brooks and King.
