Cougars Share Holiday Cheer with Community
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted its annual toy drive this past week, donating to the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos. After dropping off over 125 toys, the student-athletes stuck around to play soccer and on the playground with the children.
"SAAC had a great fall semester organizing a toy drive and volunteering at the local food bank," said CSUSM SAAC President and men's golf student-athlete Arman Rahgozar. "It was a chance for our student-athletes to give back and make a positive impact in the community, bringing some holiday cheer and support to those in need."
CSUSM student-athletes also donated their time to the San Diego Food Bank on two different occasions this past fall by boxing and sorting previously donated food.
The cross country and track & field student-athletes helped out at the San Elijo Elementary Run-a-Thon on November 12 and 21 for eight hours in addition to a speed clinic with a San Marcos youth baseball team on October 2.
The softball team also made a separate trip to the Boys and Girls Club of San Marcos to participate in a day camp in addition to taking part in practices with the youth softball teams.
