SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 9 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team will host the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational on March 10-11 at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Cougars took third with a 15-over 591 at Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in their second tournament of the spring.
- Madison Murr tied for first alongside Cal State LA's Daniela Andrade with a 5-under 139, but brought home the trophy after winning the playoff with a par on the first hole.
- Madison Murr collected her third individual medalist honor this year and ranks No. 4 in the country behind top-ranked Amely Bochaton of Wingate, followed by Findlay's Mary Kelly Mulcahy and Tiffin's LIsa Marie Schumacher.

CSUSM FUJIKURA INVITATIONAL
- This year's field contains five top-25 teams, ranked by Scoreboard (powered by Clippd) – No. 9 CSUSM, No. 13 UT-Tyler, No. 15 Rollins and No. 22 Simon Fraser.
- This is the Cougars' sixth consecutive season hosting the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational.
- The Cougars took first at last year's invitational with a 37-over 901 (289-319-302)
- CSUSM also won the tournament in 2020 and 2023.
- Madison Murr was crowned the individual medalist with a 1-under 215 (66-78-71).
- In the inaugural tournament, the Cougars placed third in a field that featured nine nationally-ranked teams and six from the top 10.
- The 2022 CSUSM Fujikura Invitational medalist was freshman Diana Delgado, who led wire-to-wire to capture her first collegiate tournament win with a 1-under 143 (70-73).
- CSUSM collected the team title in 2022 with an 18-over 594, defeating then-No. 1 Lynn by three strokes.
- Shadowridge Golf Club has hosted each of the CSUSM Fujikura Invitationals.
COUGAR OUTLOOK
- For the second consecutive year, the squad added two new Cougars in the lineup — freshmen Faith Hamstreet and Abby Sickles.
- The Cougars won their fifth consecutive CCAA Championship title in 2024, defeating second-place Cal State Monterey Bay by 27 strokes.
- Regan Barton become CSUSM's fourth CCAA Champion, recording a 2-under 214 at the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club.
- After a fifth-place finish in the NCAA West Regional, CSUSM made its third appearance in the NCAA National Championships, finishing 12th in stroke play.
THE HUTTON FILE
- Head coach Greg Hutton has been at the helm of the men's program since the 2010-11 season and was named the women's head coach in 2014.
- Hutton has been named CCAA Coach of the Year a total of seven times – six times on the women's side and one time on the men's side.
- The CSUSM women's team was the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship runner-up, led by National Champion Jaime Jacob.
- CSUSM men's golfer Matt Pennington was the program's first-ever CCAA Champion and NCAA West/South Central Regional Champion in 2022.
- Under Hutton's leadership, the women's team won CSUSM's first CCAA Championship in school history in 2018 and the Cougars defended their title in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
- In 2023, the CSUSM men's team captured its first-ever CCAA Championship Tournament Title, defeating runner-up Cal State Monterey by one stroke on April 19 at the Victory Club in Riverside.
- In CSUSM's first year of being a full-fledged NCAA Division II member in 2017-18, the Cougar men's and women's golf teams each qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
