Cougars Fall in Four at Sonoma

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (2-10, 0-5 CCAA) dropped a four-set match (20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25) at Sonoma State (6-5, 3-2 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Wolves' Den.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • CSUSM got out to a 6-1 lead in the opening set, but the Seawolves answered with a 9-0 run and never forfeited the lead to capture a 25-20 win.
  • The Cougars led the second set until the 8-all mark when SSU rattled off four consecutive points, forcing a CSUSM timeout. The Cougars came back and took an 18-15 lead on a McCasland ace. The Seawolves once again rallied back to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-22 win.
  • CSUSM controlled the third set, never relinquishing the lead to force a fourth set with a 25-23 win.
  • The fourth set featured seven ties and three lead changes. CSUSM cut SSU's lead to one at 22-21 on a solo block by Kelli Miechowicz before the Seawolves closed the set with a 25-23 victory to claim the match.
