CSUSM Claims Five-Set Victory Over Sonoma State
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (6-15, 4-10 CCAA) posted a five-set victory (21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 20-25, 15-8) over Sonoma State (9-11, 6-8 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams battled in the opening set until the Seawolves scored five unanswered points to go up 18-15. SSU finished with a 25-21 win.
- CSUSM recovered from a 7-3 deficit with two aces and a kill by McCasland in addition to a Zaitz overpass kill to even it at 7-all. The Cougars went on to take the second set at 25-22 to even the match at 1-1.
- The third set was all CSUSM with only one lead change and three ties. The Cougars finished the set with a .344 clip (14k, 3e, 32ta) to go up 2-1 with a 25-20 victory.
- The Seawolves powered back to take the fourth set at 25-20 to even the match once again and force a fifth set.
- The Cougars went up 3-0 early and finished with four of their 10 blocks on the night to clinch the match victory with a 15-8 fifth-set win.

- McCasland notched her third double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs.
- The Cougars ended the match with an advantage in blocks (10-7), aces (9-6), hitting percentage (.206-.176) and digs (72-71).
- The Cougars are 6-5 in the all-time series against the Seawolves and are 5-2 when playing at home.
- This was CSUSM's first set of back-to-back wins this season as the Cougars' defeated Cal Poly Humboldt in four-sets on Friday, Nov. 1.
