SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Paige Donnelly of Cal State San Marcos has been selected as the season's first FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week after her smashing performance at the Concordia Kickoff Classic.
Donnelly batted .647 in five games to lead the No. 23-ranked Cougars to a 5-0 record to win the season-opening tournament hosted by Concordia in Irvine. The senior first baseman from Poway pounded out 11 hits in 17 at-bats with three doubles, a triple and five runs batted in. She slashed a .941 slugging percentage and a .632 on-base percentage.
The tournament's co-MVP tallied four multiple hit games with three hits in two of the five games and two hits in another. Donnelly's best single game was a 3-for-5, 3 RBI, two-run performance on Friday when CSUSM rallied from behind to beat Hawaii Hilo 11-8. She had a double and a triple in that game. Donnelly also had three hits in three at-bats in Saturday's 11-2 rout over Western Oregon.

Cal State San Marcos will have a busy week two as the Cougars host Hawaii Pacific on Monday. CSUSM will also visit Azusa Pacific on Saturday and host Vanguard on Sunday.
