SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (7-18, 4-16 CCAA) fell 79-49 to Cal State East Bay (10-17, 9-11 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kaity Haan scored back-to-back layups at 2:48 and 2:41 to trim the deficit to 15-8 before CSUEB ended the frame ahead 20-13.
- In the second quarter, a Taylor Eldredge putback at 8:49 and another Lucca Lowenberg 3-pointer at 7:32 extended the Pioneer advantage to 25-13.
- A Sydney Hani layup at 6:25 pulled the Cougars within 25-17, but a Krista Sheaffer basket at 4:08 helped the visitors keep momentum.
- CSUSM went into the halftime break down 38-22 after shooting 21.1% (8-of-38) from the field to East Bay's 42.4% (14-of-33).
- The Pioneers opened the third with a Hailey Estrada 3-pointer at 9:01 followed by an Aloha Akaka fast-break layup at 6:58 to make it 48-24.
- Sheaffer hit a 3-pointer off a turnover at 4:34 and Lailah Carey finished in transition at 3:32 as CSUEB grew the margin to 59-26.
- East Bay led 68-31 after three and reached its largest lead at 79-45 on a Sierra Morris putback with 2:09 remaining; CSUSM closed the scoring to the 79-49 final.

- CSUSM shot 25.0% (17-of-68) from the field, 4.8% (1-of-21) from 3-point range and 93.3% (14-of-15) at the line while East Bay shot 44.1% (30-of-68), 46.7% (7-of-15) from 3-point range and 75.0% (12-of-16) at the stripe.
- East Bay held a 49-43 rebounding edge and converted for an 18-12 advantage in second-chance points, while CSUSM collected 20 offensive boards.
- The Pioneers led 29-25 in points off turnovers, 21-4 in fast-break points and 32-14 in bench scoring.
- Kaity Haan recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds to go with five steals and two blocks.
