CSUSM Earns 1-1 Draw at APU

AZUSA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (1-1-1) earned its first draw of the season in a 1-1 tie at Azusa Pacific (2-0-1) on Thursday evening at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

CSUSM – 52' Kayla Knoob (Assisted by Brianna Delgado)
APU – 61' Neyda Martinez (Penalty Kick)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • There was no score after one half of play as APU put up seven shots to CSUSM's three.
  • Taking the ball down the left side of the field following a throw-in, Delgado dribbled into the box before a pass to Knoob on the right side of the box. After one dribble, Knoob took a high shot from 10 yards out and found the upper portion of the net to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute.
  • APU scored the equalizer in the 61st minute. After a CSUSM foul in the box, APU's Neyda Martinez lined up for a penalty kick and put a low shot into the bottom right corner of the goal to tie the game at 1-1.

  • This was the second consecutive tie between CSUSM and APU.
