SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (1-5, 0-2 CCAA) saw its lead vanish late in the second half as it fell 73-66 to Cal State Dominguez Hills (6-1, 2-0 CCAA) on Saturday at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougars went on a 10-0 run that started on a Tengan 3-pointer (16:22) and ended on a layup by Chris Howard (14:33) to give CSUSM its largest lead of the first half at 16-8.
• CSUSM took a 39-35 lead into the break after shooting 46.9% (15-of-32) while CSUDH turned in a 44.8% (13-of-29) in the opening half.
• Henderson led CSUSM with 10 points and eight rebounds in the first half.
• CSUDH tallied seven points off fast breaks while holding CSUSM to none in the first 20 minutes.
• The Toros had the lead for just 48 seconds in the first half while the Cougars controlled it for the rest of the period.
• A pair of made free throws by CSUDH's Alex Garcia cut CSUSM's lead to one point (58-57) at the 9:11 mark of the second half.
• The Toros knotted the game at 63-all on Jakob Alamudun's made free throws with 4:10 remaining in the game, sparking a 7-0 run. 
• Down 68-63 following a pair of free throws by Alamudun, Pierce got a 3-pointer to go and made it 68-66 with 1:28 to play.
• That was as close as CSUSM came to the lead as CSUDH ended the game on a 5-0 run.
• The Cougars shot just 25% (7-of-28) in the second half while the Toros came in at 32.3% (10-of-31).

 
FAST BREAKS

• The Cougars ended the game shooting a season-low 36.7% (22-of-60) while the Toros finished at 38.3% (23-of-60) – the second lowest by a CSUSM opponent.
• Henderson tallied his second double-double of the season with a team-leading 15 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
• CSUDH's Jeremy Dent-Smith led the contest with 18 points and a team-high 10 boards.
• CSUSM matched its season high with 12 3-pointers and recorded its second-best performance from downtown this season at 34.3% (12-of-35).
• The Toros scored 18 points off fast breaks while the Cougars only had three.
• CSUSM had the lead for 33:36 while CSUDH had it for just 4:18.
• Both teams committed 14 turnovers while the Toros had more steals at 8-6.
• The Cougars had more assists at 11-9.
• CSUDH outrebounded CSUSM, 48-33.
