CSUSM Roars Back to Defeat Chico State, 83-76

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (5-4, 2-2 CCAA) rallied from a 16-point deficit to earn an 83-76 victory over Chico State (4-5, 2-2 CCAA) on Sunday afternoon at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Chico State jumped out to an early 11-3 lead and extended its advantage to 15 points at 42-27 late in the first half.
  • CSUSM trailed 42-29 at halftime after shooting 38.5% (10-of-26) from the field compared to Chico State's 53.1% (17-of-32).
  • The Wildcats took their largest lead of the game at 16 points on a Jeremiah Dargan jumper with 14:15 to play to make it 55-39.
  • CSUSM came roaring back, taking the lead for the first time at 73-72 following a Stratton jumper with 2:56 to play, outscoring Chico 33-17 since its largest deficit.
  • Tied 74-all with 1:58 remaining, CSUSM closed the game with a 9-2 run to pick up the comeback win at 83-76.
  • Simon scored all 19 of his points in the final 12:11 of the contest.
  • The Cougars went 18-of-19 (94.7%) from the charity stripe in the second half while the Wildcats were just 6-of-9 (66.7%)
