IRVINE, Calif. – A school record and a total of four top-10 program marks highlighted the Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team's performances at UC Irvine's Steve Scott Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Mateo Gomez broke the school record in the long jump at 6.93 meters, beating out Michael Anastasia's 2013 record of 6.91 meters.
- Dre Johnson posted a 100-meter time of 10.69, tying teammate Jason Wells for the second-fastest mark in program history. Johnson later recorded a 200-meter time of 21.79.
- Sankalp Shastri took third out of 37 entrants in the one-mile invitational at 4:09.78 – the fourth-fastest time in program history and .8 faster than his time from a year ago. Renton McGregor and Trevor Boaz finished with times of 4:14.30 and 4:16.08, respectively, while Ziggy Nacco posted the 10th-fastest time in team history at 4:19.54.
- Braden Oberg finished with an 800-meter invitational time of 1:55.96 as the long Cougar in the field.
- Juan Leyva posted a mark of 51.21 meters in the hammer throw.
- Mark De Haro took second out of 37 in the 800-meter open at 1:57.60.
- Kalathan Laiwa-McKay took fourth out of 20 in the shot put with a mark of 17.06 meters.
- Gio Moya ran a 400-meter hurdles time of 55.30.
