SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw an NCAA provisional and four top-10 program marks in five meets over a three-day period this weekend.
TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
- Cody Purvis posed the fourth-best shot put mark in team history with a distance of 13.98 meters.
- Braden Oberg and Mateo Saldana had the seventh- and eighth-fastest 800-meter times in program history at 1:51.83 and 1:52.00, respectively.
- Nick Melanese ran a then-season-best time of 1:51.59 in the 800-meter run invite.
TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE PACIFIC COAST INVITATIONAL
- Will Prouty threw a distance of 54.83 in the hammer throw, finishing second among Division II competitors.
- Kalathan Laiwa-McKay had a mark of 16.98 meters in the shot put.
TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE MT. SAC RELAYS
- Nick Melanese posted an NCAA provisional time of 1:50.36 in the 800-meter run.
- Jason Wells ran the third-fastest 200-meter dash in program history at 21.67 seconds as Dre Johnson finished just ahead at 21.61 seconds. He finished fourth out of 19 entrants and was the lone non-Division I runner in the field.
TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE ULV LEOPARD INVITATIONAL
- Ziggy Nacco took first out of 44 entrants in his section of the 1500-meter run, posting a PR of 3:54.66.
BEACH INVITATIONAL
- As the lone Cougar in the meet, Laiwa-McKay recorded a shot put mark of 16.79 meters – his second-best mark of the weekend.
