Cougars Eliminate Toros to Open CCAA Tournament
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos softball team (37-18) pulled off a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills (31-25) to advance to the double-elimination round of the CCAA Tournament presented by FloCollege on Wednesday at Seawolf Softball Field on the campus of Sonoma State.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM went up 2-0 in the second inning on an RBI single up the middle by Savannah Coyle and a bases-loaded walk by Paige Donnelly.
- The Toros got on the board in the third on an RBI fielder's choice by Mireya Rico to make it 2-1 CSUSM.
- CSUDH took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth when Jay Ross hit a 2-RBI single up the middle.
- The Cougars answered in the bottom of the frame with an Aneesa Arredondo RBI single up the middle and an RBI double to right by Mackenzie Kestler to give CSUSM a 4-3 lead.
- CSUSM reliever Dahlia Fink retired the side in the seventh to secure the CSUSM win.
QUICK HITS
- Fink (9-3) tossed three shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out a batter to record the win.
- CSUDH pitcher Ashley Ogata (11-15) took the loss after relinquishing four runs on seven hits and four walks in 6.0 innings of work.
- Madison Waymire extended her NCAA Division II era record streak of reaching base safely to 25 games with three walks in the game.
- With the win, CSUSM evened the all-time series with the Toros to 23-all and is 2-0 when playing CSUDH on a neutral field.
- This was Arredondo's seventh multi-hit game.
- Gianna Lombardi's double was her 11th of the season and tied her with Paige Donnelly for the most on the team this season.
