No. 14 CSUSM Completes Opening CCAA Series Sweep Over Stan State
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 14 Cal State San Marcos softball team (14-1, 4-0 CCAA) opened CCAA action with a four-game series sweep over Stanislaus State (3-11, 0-4 CCAA) after winning both games on Saturday by scores of 5-2 and 1-0. On Friday, the Cougars recorded 6-2 and 5-4 victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the opening frame on a fielder's choice that plated Katie Thornsberry.
- CSUSM did not waste any time taking the lead away, posting two runs in the bottom of the first. Savannah Coyle hit an RBI single up the middle that plated Madison Waymire who led off the inning with a double to center before Aneesa Arredondo hit a deep sacrifice fly to left that brought Jillian Albayati home.
- A Paige Donnelly sacrifice fly in the next inning scored Czar Fleischman who led off with a bunt single to third, making it 3-1 CSUSM.
- After a Marissa Morales single and an Arredondo double, Gianna Lombardi knocked out a 2-RBI double to left center to raise CSUSM's lead to 5-1.
- Stan State got one more run across in the top of the seventh, an unearned run in that scored Lauryn Serda.

- CSUSM starting pitcher Jayline Sloss (5-0) tossed a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out a season-best seven batters.

- Two consecutive singles by Mackenzie Kestler and Savannah Coyle set up Delaney Prater to knock in the lone run of the game on a single up the middle in the bottom of the second.
