SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (5-2-4, 2-1-2 CCAA) posted a 3-0 shutout victory at Cal State Monterey Bay (3-6-3, 1-3-1 CCAA) on Friday night at Cardinale Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars went up 1-0 in the 15th minute. After Danielle Paulson's header deflected off the keeper, Brittany Brown took possession and kicked the ball into the left side of the goal to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead.
- Off a corner kick from the left side by Natalia Huntington, Natalie Paulson put a strong header into the left corner of the goal to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute.
- CSUSM heavily outshot CSUMB in the first 45 minutes at 12-3 while also leading in shots on goal at 8-3.
- The Cougars went up 3-0 in the 55th minute. After an Otter foul in the box, Diana Mendoza took the penalty kick and put a low shot into the right corner of the goal.
QUICK KICKS
- Brown's goal was her second of the season (both game winners), while the goals by Natalie Paulson and Mendoza were their firsts.
- Huntington's assist was her team-leading second of the year.
- Mendoza's game-high four shots were all on goal – the most shots on goal by a Cougar this season.
- Emma Calvillo notched her seventh shutout of the season in goal while making one save.
- Despite only having possession for 47% of the match, CSUSM led the way in shots (19-6) and shots on goal (11-1). Both teams took four corner kicks each.
- The Cougars' three goals were their most in a game this season.
- CSUSM has not allowed a goal to CSUMB in each of the past three matches and is 4-0-1 against the Otters in their last five contests.
- The Cougars now have a 7-1-2 lead in the all-time series against the Otters and are 4-1-1 when playing on the road.
- CSUSM's three-goal victory was the largest margin of victory by either team since the first meeting in 2015.
- With the win, CSUSM now has eight points and sits fifth in the CCAA standings since UC Merced is not eligible for postseason play.
