TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (6-5, 3-3 CCAA) dropped a 72-68 decision to Stanislaus State (7-5, 3-3 CCAA) on Sunday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM started strong, building an 18-point lead at 31-13 with 6:17 left in the first half behind hot shooting from Keavie Love and Max Tengan.
- The Cougars took a 35-28 lead into halftime after shooting 45.2% (14-of-31) from the field and 42.9% (6-of-14) from three, while Stanislaus State shot 34.6% (9-of-26) from the field and 16.7% (2-of-12) from three.
- Stanislaus State opened the second half with a 21-7 run. The Warriors took their first lead at 44-42 before making it a 49-42 game with a fastbreak layup from Lloyd French with 11:40 remaining.
- CSUSM tied the game at 57-57 on an Aaron Ragen three-pointer with 4:49 left, but Stanislaus State answered back by taking a five-point lead at 64-59 after a Malachi Johnson jumper with 2:18 to go.
- The Cougars pulled within two at 66-68 with 29 seconds left, but the Warriors converted free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.

- CSUSM shot 46.3% (25-of-54) from the field and 34.8% (8-of-23) from three, while Stanislaus State finished at 44.9% (22-of-49) and 39.1% (9-of-23).
- The Cougars went 10-of-13 (76.9%) at the free-throw line compared to the Warriors' 19-of-23 (82.6%).
- CSUSM held a 37-24 advantage on the boards, including 13 offensive rebounds.
- Stanislaus State forced 17 turnovers and turned them into 26 points, while CSUSM scored 12 points off nine Warrior turnovers.
- This was the Cougars' first loss to the Warriors in Turlock since Jan. 11, 2020.
- CSUSM still owns a 12-5 lead over Stanislaus in the all-time series.
