SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw a school record fall as it tallied six total top-10 program marks across two meets this weekend at the Beach Opener and the Oxy Distance Carnival & Spring Break Classic.
TOP PERFORMANCES AT BEACH OPENER
- Will Prouty broke the CSUSM record in the hammer throw at 54.39 meters, beating the previous record by 1.67 meters and his own PR by 2.66 meters.
- Troy Thompson Jr. ran the ninth-fastest 100-meter dash in program history at 10.90 seconds. Dre Johnson and Jason Wells ran wind-aided times of 10.59 and 10.63, respectively.
TOP PERFORMANCES AT OXY
- Dorian Fillmore's height of 1.97 meters in the high jump was the eighth-best in program history as he finished second out of 18 entrants.
- Fillmore also had the 10th-best triple jump mark in team history at 13.43 meters, finishing third out of 21 entrants.
- Jayden Davis posted the 10th-best hammer throw mark in program history at 44.02 meters. Teammates Will Prouty and Kalathan Laiwa-McKay had marks of 49.35 and 48.16 meters, respectively.
- Nick Melanese ran the 10th-fastest 5000-meter run in team history at 14:39.42 and finished 10th out of 208 entrants.
- Laiwa-McKay won the shot put event with a mark of 17.32 meters out of 24 entrants.
- Cody Purvis finished third out of 22 entrants in the discus at 39.87 meters.
