Ewing Reveals CSUSM's 2024 Softball Schedule
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After its second consecutive historic season in 2023 with a trip the NCAA Division II World Series, the Cal State San Marcos softball team is ready to get back on the field as Head Coach Stef Ewing announced the Cougars' 2024 schedule on Wednesday.
The 2024 schedule consists of 53 games and is highlighted by four home CCAA weekends, four non-conference doubleheaders and the inaugural CSUSM Diamond Showdown at the CSUSM Softball Field. The Cougars will also be hosting the CCAA Conference Tournament for the first time in program history May 1-4.
"The 2024 season will ensure that we see all of the best in the west," said Ewing. "We are going to get tested early and late with the teams that we have on our schedule. This group is experienced and we are very excited to get back on the dirt in February."
For the fourth consecutive time, CSUSM will begin its season at the Concordia Kickoff Classic in Irvine. The Cougars will face Chaminade, Western Oregon, Colorado Christian, Dominican and Western Washington on Feb. 2-4.
The Cougars will open their home schedule with four non-conference opponents in six days beginning with the CSUSM Diamond Showdown featuring Hawaii Pacific (Feb. 6), Northwest Nazarene (Feb. 8) and Colorado Christian who CSUSM will not be playing. CSUSM will close out the week with doubleheaders against Montana State Billings (Feb. 9) and Adelphi (Feb. 11).
CSUSM will open conference play on the road, traveling to Northern California to face Stanislaus State (Feb. 16-17). The Cougars will return home for their conference home opener, welcoming 2023 CCAA Regular-Season Champion Sonoma State (Feb. 23-24) to the CSUSM Softball Field.
CSUSM will begin the month of March on the road, making another trip north to Cal Poly Humboldt (March 1-2) before returning home to face San Francisco State (March 8-9). The Cougars will take a break from conference play to host Biola (March 15) and Azusa Pacific (March 16) before venturing over to Irvine to take on Concordia University Irvine (March 19).
The Cougars will remain on the road, traveling to Cal State Dominguez Hills (March 29-30) before returning the following weekend to host Cal State Monterey Bay (April 4-5). After a trip over to Cal State San Bernardino (April 12-13), CSUSM will celebrate Senior Weekend against Cal State East Bay (April 19-20). The Cougars will close out the regular season at Chico State April 26-27.
CSUSM will then host the six-team CCAA Tournament for the very first time on May 1-4 at CSUSM Softball Field.
