No. 14 CSUSM Competes in Fifth Consecutive West Regional
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 14 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team will travel north to Stockton for the Cougars' fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA West Regional on May 6-8.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Cougars won their fifth consecutive CCAA Golf Championship team title on April 24 in Santa Rosa, California.
- CSUSM posted a 1-over 865, finishing with the largest win margin in tournament history with a 27-stroke cushion over Cal State Monterey Bay (892, +28).
- Regan Barton was crowned the CCAA individual medalist with a 2-under 214 (70-69-75), becoming CSUSM's fourth in program history.

2024 WEST REGIONALS
- Visit Stockton and California Collegiate Atheltic Association will serve as host of this year's NCAA West Regionals.
- Dallas Baptist defeated West Texas A&M in a sudden death playoff in last year's regional tournament.
- Former WTAMU golfer Alyssa Campbell was the individual champion last year carding a 5-under 205 (72-66-67).
- CSUSM matched its best finish in program history with a third-place finish at the 2023 West Regional after carding a 20-over 860 (286-286-288).
- Former Cougar Breann Horn was CSUSM's top golfer last year with a 1-under 209 (68-67-74).
- Madison Murr tied for ninth with a 4-over 214 (73-70-71) while Makenna Cabardo tied for 30th with a 15-over 215 (73-74-78) while Regan Barton tied for 41st with a 10-over 229 (79-75-75).
COUGAR OUTLOOK
- This year's squad will feature three new Cougars in the lineup — freshmen Chloe Rahn and Maddie Reed in addition to midseason transfer Hannah Anderson
- The Cougars won their fourth consecutive CCAA Championship title in 2023, defeating second-place Cal State Monterey Bay by six strokes.
- After a third-place finish in the NCAA West Regional, CSUSM made its second appearance in the NCAA National Championships, finishing ninth in stroke play.
THE HUTTON FILE
- Head coach Greg Hutton has been at the helm of the men's program since the 2010-11 season and was named the women's head coach in 2014.
- In his 13 years as the Cougar men's coach and nine years as the Cougar women's coach, Hutton has led CSUSM to 60 tournament victories (36 women/24 men).
- The CSUSM women's team was the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship runner-up, led by National Champion Jaime Jacob.
- The CSUSM men's golfer Matt Pennington was the program's first-ever CCAA Champion and NCAA West/South Central Regional Champion in 2022.
- In 2023, the CSUSM men's team captured its first-ever CCAA Championship Tournament Title, defeating runner-up Cal State Monterey by one stroke on April 19 at the Victory Club in Riverside.
- Under Hutton's leadership, the women's team won CSUSM's first CCAA Championship in school history in 2018 and the Cougars defended their title in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
- In CSUSM's first year of being a full-fledged NCAA Division II member in 2017-18, the Cougar men's and women's golf teams each qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
