Donnelly Earns Third CCAA Player of the Week Honor
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Paige Donnelly of the No. 24 Cal State San Marcos softball team has been selected as the CCAA Player of the Week (April 8-14).
Donnelly hit .524 over a six-game week and helped lead the Cougars to three crucial wins over Cal State San Bernardino in a match-up between two teams in the top four of the CCAA standings. For the week, Donnelly collected 11 hits, including two doubles and a home run, drove in four runs and scored three more.
The junior first baseman from Poway had hits in all six games, including going 3-for-4 in the series finale, which put CSUSM a half-game ahead of CSUSB in the conference standings.
Donnelly leads the Cougars with a .368 batting average and 33 RBI. She has reached base safely in 21 consecutive games and is currently riding a 16-game hitting streak.
This is Donnelly's first CCAA Player of the Week award in 2024 and the third of her career. She is the second Cougar to earn a Player of the Week honor this year, joining Madison Waymire (Feb. 5).
The Cougars (26-17, 14-10 CCAA) will host Cal State East Bay (21-16, 13-13 CCAA) this weekend in the second-to-last regular season series of the year. CSUSM will host the CCAA Tournament on May 1-4.
