- The Gators took a quick 9-0 lead before a Tamashiro driving layup put CSUSM on the board at the 6:16 mark in the first quarter.
- A pair of Morse made free throws cut the gap to 11-6 at the 3:34 mark.
- SF State closed out the first quarter with a 10-2 run to make it 21-8.
- The Cougars outscored the Gators 15-13 in the second quarter but still trailed 34-23 at the halftime break.
- CSUSM had a slight edge in rebounds in the first half at 16-15 with eight coming on the offensive side.
