CSUSM Leads Wire-to-Wire in 60-46 Victory Over Stan State
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (6-19, 6-13 CCAA) led wire-to-wire in the 60-48 victory over Stanislaus State (5-20, 4-15 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars wasted no time, jumping out to an 10-0 lead in the first two and half minutes.
- CSUSM held a 21-11 lead following the first quarter after shooting 53.3% (8-of-15) while holding the Warriors to 31.3% (5-of-16).
- Stan State opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run to cut the gap to 21-17 after Alyssa Premo recorded a steal and scored on a layup with 8:12 on the clock.
- A 15-3 run evened the game at 24-all after Krista Anderson sunk a jumper with 4:46 on the clock of the second quarter.
- A Maddie Leiva pull-up jumper put CSUSM back on top at 26-24 at 2:48.
- The Cougars took a 29-25 lead into the break after shooting 35.7% (10-of-28) while the Warriors clicked in at 37% (10-of-27).
- CSUSM sunk four 3-pointers to Stan State's two in the first 20 minutes.
- Back-to-back 3-pointers by Rose Morse and Tatum Tamashiro put CSUSM up 37-29 at the 5:07 mark of the third quarter.
- After making it a three-point game, the Cougars turned on the jets with a 7-0 run to get a double-digit cushion again at 53-43 with 2:46 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- CSUSM took its biggest lead of the game on the last bucket of the game, a floating jumper by Jade Ramirez with eight seconds on the clock to clinch the win at 60-46.
FAST BREAKS
- The Cougars walked away with the victory despite shooting 30.5% (18-of-59) to Stan State's 32.7% (17-of-52).
- CSUSM once again won the battle of the boards, 44-37, with 15 coming on the offensive side.
- The Cougars clinched the series sweep, their first of 2024-25, after defeating the Warriors 69-52 in Turlock on Jan. 25.
- CSUSM led in assists (11-9), steals (15-12), 3-pointers (7-4) and recorded few turnovers (19-22) in the contest.
- Eleven of CSUSM's points came off fast breaks while Stan State only recorded six.
- The Cougars converted 19 points off of the Warriors' 22 turnovers while only allowing Stan State to score eight points off CSUSM's 19 turnovers.
- CSUSM extended its win streak over the Warriors to eight games with the victory.
- The Cougars hold a 10-6 lead in the all-time series over Stan State and are 6-1 when playing in The Sports Center.
