10 Cougars Selected to CSC Academic All-District List
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Kalathan Laiwa-McKay, Renton McGregor, Nick Melanese, Chas O'Bear and Will Prouty of the Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team and Rasha Badrani, Kailey Frye, Emily Mendoza, Lauren Meredith and Rachelle Zilavec of the Cal State San Marcos women's track & field team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
The 2025 Academic All-District Men's & Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's track& field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 at his/her current institution, must be ranked in the top 50 in the West Region for at least one event, and must be a sophomore academically and athletically.
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Selected student-athletes will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced July 15-16, 2025.
