Sloss Collects Second Consecutive CCAA Pitcher of the Week Nod
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – With two more outstanding starts, Jayline Sloss of Cal State San Marcos has been picked as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.
For the second week in a row, Sloss threw two complete games to earn a pair of wins last weekend as the Cougars swept Cal State San Bernardino at home. Sloss yielded two earned runs on a total of 11 hits in 14 innings pitched for 1.00 ERA. She struck out seven and despite seven walks and hitting four batters, she escaped multiple jams.
The senior from Bakersfield threw a four-hit shutout in game one of the series on Friday. Sloss struck out two, walked two and hit two Coyotes in the outing. She started out strong and retired 12 of the first 13 batters in order. In the fifth, after CSUSB loaded the bases, she struck out the batter to end the threat. Sloss also stranded two base runners in the seventh. In her second start on Saturday, Sloss left multiple CSUSB runners on base in four innings including a bases loaded situation in the fifth. She only allowed a two-run dinger to CCAA home run leader Terise Tosi.
Sloss (14-4) is fourth in the CCAA in ERA (2.09), opposing batting average (.238) and strike outs (74). Her 14 wins are tied for second. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard.
