SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In its first home meet since 2020, the Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw one new top-10 program time while three CCAA-best marks were set at the Mangrum Invitational on Friday at Mangrum Track & Field.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES

• Running into a slight headwind, Jeremy Rack had the seventh-best 110-meter hurdles time in program history at 15.47.
• Beating out 33 other competitors, Renton McGregor won the 800-meter run at 1:54.29.
• In a field of 59, Nick Melanese won the 1500-meter run in 3:50.80. Matthew Frey was fifth at 3:52.23. Those times rank as the fastest and second fastest in the CCAA this season.
• Isaac Muanza won the triple jump with a mark of 14.26 meters – the best in the CCAA this season. He also tallied a height of 1.89 meters in the high jump.
• Finishing fourth out of 19 entrants, Juan Leyva posted a distance of 47.92 meters in the hammer.
• Kalathan Laiwa-McKay finished fifth out of 18 in the shot put at 13.95 meters.
• Kenyon Riley was the top Cougar in the 400-meter dash at 51.43.
• Zavier Hidalgo was CSUSM's top finisher in the 100-meter dash at 11.32.
• Justice Chima finished the 200-meter dash in 22.46.
• Hayden Sumner finished the 400-meter hurdles in 58.65.
• Alex Anderson posted a time of 10:05.13 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
• Chris Lee had a mark of 4.22 meters in the pole vault.
• In the long jump, Ripley Brant posted a distance of 6.03 meters.
• Will Prouty had a distance of 36.83 meters in the discus.
• Sankalp Shastri finished 10th out of 43 runners in the 5,000-meter run at 14:58.76.
• Ruben Piña concluded the meet with a CCAA-best 10,000-meter time of 31:43.09.

 
MEET HIGHLIGHTS

• In total, 10 NCAA Division II provisionals were earned.
• Eight new facility records were set.

Cal State San Marcos will compete in two meets on Saturday as most of the Cougars will be at the PLNU Collegiate Invitational while a select few will be competing at San Diego State's Aztec Invitational.
