- Call for Research Participants for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction StudyWe are recruiting healthy adults, ages 18 to 50 , to be part of a study on the effects that anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery has on muscle mass and balance. We are recruiting participants who have had ACL surgery or injury on one leg. Participation will take approximately 40 minutes. If you volunteer, you will have a measure of body composition completed and will then stand on each leg to allow us to measure balance and stability. The study is being conducted in Room 240 of University Hall on campus. Previous ACL surgery on both of your legs may exclude you from participating. - Special Events Schedule for Veterans WeekVeterans Week Events Nov. 7 - Waves of Flags Celebration A display of American flags celebrating our CSUSM Veteran and Military Affiliated Students. This display will be on the Forum Plaza throughout Veterans Week. Each flag represents our almost 2,000 Veterans and Military Affiliated students on campus. Nov. 8 - Murph Workout Fitness Challenge, 11 a.m., Veterans Center Deck In partnership with Campus Recreation, we welcome those to join in a fitness challenge during Veterans week. The Murph Workout honors the life of Lt. Michael Murphy, the first service member to receive the Medal of Honor for service in Afghanistan. The workout consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another 1-mile run. Nov. 10 - Chow on the Deck, noon, Veterans Center Deck Come join the Veterans Center for “Chow on the Deck”. Hang out and connect with the Veterans Center. Nov. 10 - Deck Challenge, noon, Veterans Center Deck Do you have what it takes to be the best? Join the Veterans Center for a Ping Pong and Corn Hole Tournament.
- Resources and Events for Upcoming Nov. 8 ElectionOn Tuesday, Nov. 8, California registered voters will vote on statewide propositions, statewide candidates, U.S. representatives, Supreme Court justices, as well as local candidates and local measures. You can drop off your ballot on campus at the ballot dropbox located in Campus Way Circle in front of the University Student Union entrance. Be sure to check out the following resources and events: Resources CSUSM Elections: Register to vote, confirm your voter registration status and find more voter education resources. Voter Education Civic Action Hub: Learn how to “get out the vote.” Complete at least three actions to be an informed voter and learn how to be an active participant in our democracy. Campus vote center: The poll site at The McMahan House is open Oct. 29-Nov. 8. Check the CSUSM Elections webpage for hours of operation. Ballots are in the mail: As ballots start showing up in mailboxes around San Diego County, the Registrar of Voters office is encouraging voters to vote early. If you haven’t received yours yet, contact the registrar’s office. More details are available here. Events Friday, Oct. 28 is Vote Early Day: When we vote early, we ensure that last-minute problems will not keep us from casting our ballot and we help reduce lines at the polls on Election Day. Monday, Nov. 7 is Election Hero Day: Celebrate the election administration teams, poll workers and others around the country who help ensure that voters can cast their ballots securely and successfully. Meet up with the Department of Civic Engagement to drop off snacks and goodies as a token of appreciation for our election heroes. Tuesday, Nov. 8 is Election Day: Stop by The McMahan House to cast your ballot or drop off your mail-in ballot starting at 7 a.m.
- Closure of Lot N for Report to the CommunityGeneral spaces in Parking Lot N will be closed on Sept. 29 for Report to the Community. All vehicles parked in Lot N on Sept. 28 will need to relocate to Lot K, Lot O or levels 1-5 of Parking Structure 1 by 7 p.m. No overnight parking is allowed on the sixth level of PS1. Lot N will reopen by 1 p.m. on Sept. 29. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Seeking Participants for Cannabis and Exercise Research StudyResearchers at Cal State San Marcos are seeking active men and women for a study on cannabis and exercise. The study is examining the impact of exercise on post-meal responses in cannabis users and non-users. If you are a cannabis user who exercises, or you just work out, you can participate in this study for a chance to learn about your health and earn up to $200.
