SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (8-15, 6-10 CCAA) will wrap up its 2024 regular season this week with stops at No. 19 San Francisco State (20-4, 14-2 CCAA) on Thursday at 5 p.m. and (RV) Cal State San Bernardino (14-9, 10-6 CCAA) on Saturday at 7 p.m.
LAST WEEK
- CSUSM went 2-0 for the second consecutive weekend.
- The Cougars swept Cal State Dominguez by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 26-24 on Friday evening in The Sports Center.
- On Saturday, CSUSM put together an upset sweep over then-No. 24 Cal State LA by scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-19.
- Isabelle Bakken finished the weekend with 19 kills on 55 attempts and two hitting errors for a .515 hitting percentage and seven blocks.
BY THE NUMBERS
- CSUSM is averaging 1.92 blocks per set, ranking fifth in the CCAA.
- The Cougars' 173 total blocks and 1,340 total digs rank fifth in the conference.
- Jackie Phillips ranks third in the CCAA in digs per set with 3.83.
- Isabelle Bakken moved into sixth in the conference with a .269 hitting percentage.

THURSDAY AT SF STATE
- The Gators enter Thursday's match on a six-game win streak and are 12-0 when playing at home this season.
- SF State registered two consecutive sweeps last weekend, defeating Chico State by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-18 on Friday before closing out the weekend with a victory (25-22, 25-21, 26-24) over Stanislaus State on Saturday afternoon.
- The Gators have already punched their ticket to the CCAA Tournament and will finish second in the CCAA standings since they enter the weekend with a four-match lead over current third-place teams Stanislaus State and Cal State San Bernardino.
- SF State owns the all-time series lead at 10-3 and is 5-0 when playing in The Swamp.
- The Gators are the CCAA leaders with a 14.31 kills per set average (10th in Division II) and 13.33 assists per set (11th in Division II).
- SF State averages 2.05 aces per set, ranking them second in the CCAA.
- Six-time CCAA Setter of the Week Kimberly DeBoer is the conference leader in assists per set (11.55), which ranks her eighth in the nation.
- Middle blocker Anastacia Garza and outside hitter Tamiya Wilson are second and third in the CCAA in hitting percentage at .322 and 3.05, respectively.

REGULAR-SEASON FINALE
- Prior to facing CSUSM on Saturday, the Coyotes will host No. 3 Cal Poly Pomona at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
- This will be the 16th time CSUSM and CSUSB have faced each other, all in the NCAA Division II era (2015-present).
- The Coyotes hold a 14-1 lead in the all-time series.
- CSUSM's only win over CSUSB came in 2017 with a five-set victory in The Sports Center.
- Earlier this season, the Cougars dropped a four-set match (25-23, 16-25, 18-25, 15-25) at home.

LOOK INSIDE THE COUGARS
- The 2024 CSUSM roster consists of nine players competing in their final collegiate season with five being four-year members of the Cougar family – Mya Galvan, Alyssa Gurrola, Kelli Miechowicz, Jackie Phillips and Jessica Thomas.
- Two new Cougars will only play one season for CSUSM – Danielle McCasland, a graduate transfer from Concordia University Irvine, and Gracie Zaitz.
- Five others are donning Cougar Blue for the first time with three being true freshmen and two junior college transfers.
- The Cougars finished their 2023 campaign with a 12-15 overall record, were 10-8 in CCAA play and returned to the CCAA Tournament for the program's fifth appearance.
- As a team in the CCAA statistics, CSUSM concluded 2023 ranked seventh in blocks per set (1.93) while holding opponents to 1.74, the third lowest in the conference.
- In the 2024 CCAA Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll, the Cougars were picked to finish seventh.
THE LEONARD FILE
- Head coach Andrea Leonard enters her 14th season in charge of the Cougar volleyball team, a program she has built from the ground up since arriving on campus in 2010.
- Leonard has a 216-176 (.551) record as CSUSM's head coach.
- In 20 seasons as a collegiate head volleyball coach, Leonard holds a 308-302 (.505) career record.
- Leonard was CSUSM's first-ever CCAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to a third-place finish in the overall standings during the 2017 season.
