Murr Earns West Region Scholar-Athlete Honors from D2 CCA
CLEVELAND – Cal State San Marcos women's golfer Madison Murr was announced Wednesday as the 2024-25 West Region Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA).
Murr will advance to the national ballot and be considered for the D2 CCA Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards to be announced later this month.
The 2025 College Sports Communicators NCAA Division II Women's At-Large Academic Team Member of the Year, Murr, who majored in Environmental Sciences, graduated with a 3.968 grade-point average. In the 2024-25 season, she was selected as the CCAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and CSC Academic All-America First Team for a second time in her career. Murr was a five-time CCAA All-Academic Team member, a four-time Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar and a four-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award honoree.
On the golf course, Murr was crowned the 2025 NCAA Division II National Champion after carding a 14-under 202 in Boulder City, Nevada, this past May. She was named the PING WGCA Co-Player of the Year and garnered WGCA All-American first-team honors for the second consecutive season. Murr repeated as CCAA Golfer of the Year after winning her first CCAA Tournament individual title.
Each Division II conference office nominated one male and one female for the D2 CCA Scholar-Athlete awards. The commissioners in each of the eight regions – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, Southeast, South Central and West – selected the regional winners. The national award is voted on by the D2 CCA membership.
