No. 8 CSUSM Concludes Season in NCAA Quarterfinals

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The No. 8 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team closed out its season with a 4-1 loss to No. 20 Central Missouri in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division National Championships.
 
BREAKDOWN

  • Regan Barton led the team off, competing against UCM's Maya McVey. Barton went two-up on the fourth hole before McVey came back and tied it on the seventh hole and eventually went four-up for UCM's first point.
  • Diana Delgado was paired with Mia Rallo in the second match. Delgado battled, tying the match-up on the fifth hole before Rallo pulled away to win four-up for the Jennies' second point.
  • Kiara Hernandez faced Libby Green in the third match. Hernandez was three up until posting a quadruple bogey on the 14th hole and couldn't recover. Green eventually won one-up making it 3-0 UCM.
  • Makenna Cabardo took on Nicole Rallo in the fourth match. With the match even entering the back nine, Rallo went three-up and never looked back to finish six-up.
  • Madison Murr gathered CSUSM's first and only point in the fifth match against Kiki Bruner. Murr took a two-up lead on the second hole and recorded six birdies to finish seven-up.

SEASON RECAP

  • The Cougars completed their fourth trip and third consecutive to the NCAA National Championships. This marked the second time CSUSM made the cut to compete for the team title with the first coming in 2019 when the Cougars finished runner-up.
  • CSUSM finished the season ranked No. 8 in the nation.
  • The Cougars concluded the 2024-25 season with five team wins and six individual wins. Madison Murr won five tournaments including the NCAA Division II National Championship. Regan Barton and Diana Delgado were individual co-medalists at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational.
  • Murr is CSUSM's second NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Champion with Jaime Jacob recording the win in 2019 as a junior.
