10 Cougars Selected to CSC Academic All-District List
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Kalathan Laiwa-McKay, Renton McGregor, Nick Melanese, Chas O'Bear and Will Prouty of the Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team and Rasha Badrani, Kailey Frye, Emily Mendoza, Lauren Meredith and Rachelle Zilavec of the Cal State San Marcos women's track & field team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
The 2025 Academic All-District Men's & Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's track& field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 at his/her current institution, must be ranked in the top 50 in the West Region for at least one event, and must be a sophomore academically and athletically.
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Selected student-athletes will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced July 15-16, 2025.

- McManus' Runner-Up Finish Guides CSUSM to Fourth-Place Finish at Cougar ChallengeWith Angela MaManus leading the pack of Cougars, the Cal State San Marcos women's cross country team placed fourth at its home meet, the Cougar Challenge, held Saturday morning on campus. The Cougars tallied 115 points in the 6K race, finishing behind Cal Poly Pomona (33 points), Point Loma (38) and Pomona-Pitzer (100).
