Turnovers Cost Cougars Against Sonoma State
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (5-19, 5-13 CCAA) fell 55-46 to Sonoma State (12-12, 10-8 CCAA) on Monday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars trailed 19-10 to the Seawolves following the end of the first quarter.
- CSUSM opened the second quarter on a 5-0 run to cut the gap to 19-15, forcing SSU to call a timeout.
- A buzzer-beater put back by Destiny Okonkwo to end the second quarter cut the gap to 27-24.
- The Cougars shot 29.2% (7-of-24) in the first half to SSU's 31.3 (10-of-32).
- The deciding factor in the opening 20 minutes was CSUSM's 12 turnovers while the Seawolves only committed five.
- The Cougars closed out the second quarter and started the third quarter on a 16-3 run to take a 33-30 lead.
- A turnover led to a SSU layup by Alysa Lopez and evened the game at 35-all with 7:09 remaining in the game.
- A Lopez 3-pointer gave SSU its first lead of the fourth quarter at 38-35 with 5:50 on the clock.
- The Seawolves closed out the game with a 17-11 run to clinch the win.

- The Cougars shot their second-lowest field-goal percentage of the season at 27.3% (15-of-55) while SSU shot 32.1% (18-of-56).

- CSUSM remains on top in the all-time series against the Seawolves at 12-7 and is 7-3 when playing at home.
