SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 18 Cal State San Marcos softball team (33-10, 19-9 CCAA) extended its win streak to eight games with its second consecutive CCAA series sweep, taking two games from Cal State San Bernardino (20-24, 12-16 CCAA) by scores of 6-2 and 5-1 on Saturday at CSUSM Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the opening frame as Madison Waymire led off with a single to the left side and scored from first on Paige Donnelly's RBI double to the left center gap. Donnelly then came across the plate on Gianna Lombardi's two-out RBI single through the left side.
- A two-run homer by Tereise Tosi in the top of the third evened the game at 2-all.
- CSUSM got out of a bases-loaded jam with CCAA home run leader Tosi at the plate in the top of the fourth with a 5-2-3 double play.
- A Lombardi RBI double down the left line in the fifth put CSUSM back on top at 3-2.
- CSUSM went up 6-2 in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run homer down the right field line by Delaney Prater and an RBI single to right field by Jillian Albayati.

- CSUSM pitcher Jayline Sloss (14-4) won her fifth straight start, tossing a complete game and allowing two runs seven hits and five walks while ringing up five batters.
- Coyote pitcher Samantha Vargas (9-7) took the loss after giving up two runs on five hits and no walks.
- Madison Waymire extended her streak of reaching base safely to 13, tying for the most this season set by Paige Donnelly.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- All six runs came in the first frame as CSUSB took a 1-0 lead on a Tereise Tosi RBI single up the middle that plated Shannon Galliano after she led off the game with a single.
- The Cougars answered with five runs in the bottom of the first on a Delaney Prater 2-RBI single through the right side, an Olivia Rivera 2-RBI double down the third-base line and an RBI single by Lauren Deptlich.
- Neither team was able to get a runner past second in the remaining innings.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM's pitcher Dahlia Fink (8-2) threw a complete game, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out three.
- CSUSB starting pitcher Ashley Legler (7-6) took the loss after allowing five runs on six hits and three walks.
- CSUSM collected its seventh consecutive win over San Bernardino and is now 14-27 in the all-time series.
- Madison Waymire became CSUSM's leader in reaching base safely, extending her streak to 14 games.
- With the series sweep, CSUSM is one game back from CCAA leader Cal State East Bay, who split its series at San Francisco State this weekend.
