Cougars Earn Fourth Consecutive Victory in 3-2 Win at Biola
LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (4-0-1) earned its fourth consecutive victory in a 3-2 road win at Biola (1-3-1) on Wednesday night at Al Barbour Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lining up for a free kick in the middle of CSUSM territory, Eoin Kingsley put a pass into the box and connected with the head of Ethan Hardin. Hardin's header went over the Cougar keeper and into the net to give Biola a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.
- Just a few moments later, CSUSM knotted the game at 1-1 in the 30th minute. After a pass from the middle of Biola territory by Pablo Orozo to Stefano Brunetto on the right side of the box, Brunetto made a quick pass to Brooklyn Baker just in front of the goal. Baker immediately put a shot into the lower left corner of the goal to knot the game.
- A CSUSM free kick from outside of the box by Nomar Ibarra found the head of Ryan Brown on the right side. The pass from Brown landed at the feet of Wright, who put a shot into the upper middle of the goal to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead in the 40th minute.
- In the 66th minute, Baker had possession on the left side of the box before passing to Meinardus at the top of the box. Meinardus put a bouncing, one-touch shot into the lower left side of the goal to give CSUSM a 3-1 lead.
- In the 70th minute, a deflected Biola shot off the CSUSM keeper ricocheted back to Brennan Furlan, who took another shot in the middle of the box and found the crossbar before the ball made its way into the goal to narrow the Cougars' lead to 3-2.
QUICK KICKS
- This was CSUSM's second consecutive win against Biola dating back to last season and was its first victory in La Mirada since 2017.
- Meinardus' goal was his team-leading fourth of the season. He tied for the game high in shots with five while leading the game with four shots on goal.
- Baker's goal was his third of the year, surpassing his 2023 total. His assist was the first of his career at CSUSM.
- Wright's goal was the second of his career and first since 2022.
- This was Brunetto's second consecutive game with an assist.
- Orozco's assist was his second of the year.
- Ibarra's assist was his first of the season while Brown's was the first of his career at CSUSM.
- The Cougars were outshot 16-12 but put more shots on goal at 8-4.
- CSUSM made the most of its possessions, controlling the ball for just 41% of the match.
- This is the Cougars' second-best start to a season in the NCAA Division II era (2015-present). CSUSM began the 2018 season at 6-0-0.
