Olson Divulges 2023 Cross Country Schedules

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's and women's cross country teams will begin their 2024 season in just over month as Head Cross Country Coach Torrey Olson announced the race schedule for his men's and women's squads on Thursday.

"I'm excited to announce our schedule," Olson said. " It provides us some excellent competitive opportunities both at home and against other regions."

For the first time in four seasons, the Cougars will not open their slate in Brea for Cal State Fullerton's Mark Covert Classic. Instead, CSUSM is heading to Irvine to compete in the UCI/CUI Invitational on Sept. 6 before competing in the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 21 two weeks later.

CSUSM will then come home to host the Cougar Challenge on Sept. 28.

After five consecutive trips to the Midwest for the Lewis Crossover in Illinois, the Cougars are breaking tradition and heading south to the University of Alabama at Huntsville for the Chargers Invitational on Oct. 12 before concluding the regular season at UC Riverside with the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 19.

Sonoma State will serve as host for the 2023 CCAA Championships on Oct. 25 in Fresno.

The Cougars will look to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships (Nov. 23) in Sacramento by competing in the NCAA Regionals in Billings, Montana on Nov. 9.
