Strong First Half Not Enough Against Chico State
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (0-14, 0-8 CCAA) fell 75-61 to Chico State (13-2, 8-1 CCAA) on Thursday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM posted three 3-pointers, two from Hetrick and a game-opener by Morse, in the first four minutes of play to put CSUSM up 13-7.
- The Wildcats came roaring back to even the contest at 15-all on a layup by Makenzi Laporte at 3:53 of the first quarter.
- The game was knotted at 18-all at the end of the first quarter with CSUSM going 4-of-7 (57.1%) from the 3-point line.
- A 3-pointer by Johnson evened the game at 28-all at 4:51 of the second quarter.
- Morse sunk a pair of free throws to put CSUSM up 33-32 with 2:13 remaining in the second quarter.
- The Cougars trailed Chico State 36-33 at the half.
- In the first 20 minutes, CSUSM went 7-of-17 (41.2%) from the arc to Chico's 1-of-9 (11.1%).
- A layup and jumper by Hetrick followed by a Slover jumper to open the second half put CSUSM back on top at 39-36 at 8:10 on the clock.
- An 10-0 Wildcat run put Chico in the lead at 46-39 at 6:28 in the third quarter.
- Chico took a 55-46 lead into the final 10 minutes of play.
- A Hetrick 3-pointer at 8:04 cut CSUSM's deficit to 57-52 in the fourth quarter.
- A 3-pointer by Jordan Allred at the 3:43 mark gave the Wildcats a double-digit cushion, which they maintained for the rest of the game.
FAST BREAKS
- CSUSM shot 33.8% (23-of-68) while the Wildcats turned in 42.9% (27-of-63) from the field.
- Chico outrebounded CSUSM, 45-39.
- The Cougars collected six blocked shots to Chico's two in the contest.
- CSUSM's 11 3-pointers in the game were a season high.
- The Cougars finished with only 11 turnovers, their second fewest of the season.
- CSUSM is now 11-7 in the all-time series against the Wildcats and 4-3 when playing in The Sports Center.
