SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 7 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team will travel to Amarillo, Texas, for the Cougars' sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA West Regional on May 5-7.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Cougars won their sixth consecutive CCAA Golf Championship team title on April 23 in Santa Barbara, California.
- CSUSM posted a 44-over 908 (304-297-307) at the Sandpiper Golf Club.
- Madison Murr was crowned the CCAA individual medalist with a 6-under 222 (76-74-72), becoming CSUSM's fifth in program history.

2025 WEST REGIONALS
- West Texas A&M will serve as host of this year's NCAA West Regionals.
- West Texas A&M (858, -6) defeated Dallas Baptist (867, +3) by nine strokes in last year's regional tournament.
- Madison Murr is the defending NCAA West Regional Individual Medalist after carding an 8-under 208 (72-67-69) to become CSUSM's first female regional champion.
- With a fifth-place finish, the Cougars punched their ticket to the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships after carding a 14-over 878.
- The top five teams and two individuals from non-advancing teams will move on to the NCAA National Championship at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder Creek, Nev. on May 13-17.
COUGAR OUTLOOK
- For the second consecutive year, the squad added two new Cougars in the lineup — freshmen Faith Hamstreet and Abby Sickles.
- The Cougars won their fifth consecutive CCAA Championship title in 2024, defeating second-place Cal State Monterey Bay by 27 strokes.
- Regan Barton become CSUSM's fourth CCAA Champion, recording a 2-under 214 at the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club.
- After a fifth-place finish in the NCAA West Regional, CSUSM made its third appearance in the NCAA National Championships, finishing 12th in stroke play.
THE HUTTON FILE
- Head coach Greg Hutton has been at the helm of the men's program since the 2010-11 season and was named the women's head coach in 2014.
- Hutton has been named CCAA Coach of the Year a total of seven times – six times on the women's side and one time on the men's side.
- The CSUSM women's team was the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship runner-up, led by National Champion Jaime Jacob.
- CSUSM men's golfer Matt Pennington was the program's first-ever CCAA Champion and NCAA West/South Central Regional Champion in 2022.
- Under Hutton's leadership, the women's team won CSUSM's first CCAA Championship in school history in 2018 and the Cougars defended their title in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
- In 2023, the CSUSM men's team captured its first-ever CCAA Championship Tournament Title, defeating runner-up Cal State Monterey by one stroke on April 19 at the Victory Club in Riverside.
- In CSUSM's first year of being a full-fledged NCAA Division II member in 2017-18, the Cougar men's and women's golf teams each qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
