AUSTIN, Texas – Redshirt senior Nick Melanese of the Cal State San Marcos men's cross country/track & field teams was named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America second team.
Melanese is the first two-time CSC Academic All-America selection in program history after first earning the honor last year. This is the Cougars' fourth CSC Academic All-America selection in team history.
Melanese was one of 17 Academic All-America Division II members with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. He was also one of 17 to earn a repeat selection.
Some of Melanese's career honors include being a 2025 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient, a 2024 NCAA Elite 90 Award winner, a 2024 CSC Academic All-American, a 2023 and 2025 CCAA Elite 13 Award winner, a two-time CCAA champion, a three-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree, a NCAA Division II 50th Anniversary Scholarship recipient and a CSUSM Dean's Award winner.
The Division II Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America program.
