Murr, No. 14/14 Cougars Tie For Second at Pioneer Shootout

COURSE REPORT:  Madison Murr collected her second consecutive runner-up honors at Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout after heavy winds and rain made the course unplayable for the second round. As a team, the Cougars also earned runner-up honors alongside Point Loma after carding a 24-over 312 in the opening round yesterday.

FIRST TEE

  • Madison Murr opened the tournament with two eagles, two birdies, a par and a bogey in the first six holes before the first stoppage of play was called due to lightning in the area. She concluded with a 1-over 73 in the first

  • Breann Horn snuck into the top 20 with a share of 19th place after carding a 7-over 79 in the first round.
  • Caroline Wales and Makenna Cabardo posted identical 80s to finish in a seven-way tie for 30th place.
  • Lauren Hickam turned in a 12-over 84 and tied for 55th place.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

  • Murr was the only golfer to post two eagles in the round. Simon Fraser's Sueah Park and Regina Parra of Holy Names also recorded an eagle.
  • CSUSM led the field in Par 5 scoring (4.85, -3).
  • Cal State East Bay won the team title with an 18-over 306.
  • Point Loma's Alli Kim was the individual medalist after turning in a 1-under 71.
