Cougars Fall to Otters in Saturday Rematch
SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (3-4, 0-2 CCAA) dropped an 82-75 contest to Cal State Monterey Bay (7-1, 2-0 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at the Otter Sports Center.
- CSUSM traded early buckets and led 6-4 after a Keavie Love 3-pointer before CSUMB answered with a 7-0 run to go up 11-6.
- The Otters built their largest first-half lead at 12 points (36-24) with five minutes to go before the Cougars brought the deficit back down to six with a Max Tengan 3-pointer to make it 39-33 with 1:47 to go.
- CSUMB took a 44-36 lead into halftime after shooting 58.1% (18-of-31) from the field compared to CSUSM's 36.1% (13-of-36).
- The Cougars stormed back in the second half, tying the game at 62-62 on a Stratton layup with 8:57 remaining.
- CSUMB responded by rebuilding its lead and going up 80-69 with 19 seconds to play.

- CSUMB outshot CSUSM 50.9% to 38.8% from the field and 72.7% to 60.0% at the free-throw line.
- CSUSM connected on 14-of-30 (46.7%) from beyond the arc, while CSUMB went 8-of-19 (42.1%).
