Foster, Jimenez Named CSUSM Student-Athletes of the Month
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Avery Foster of women's golf and Alan Jimenez of men's cross country have been named the Cal State San Marcos Student-Athletes of the Month for October 2025.
The CSUSM Student-Athlete of the Month awards are determined through a vote of all Department of Athletics coaches, administrators and staff. Each in-season program nominates a student-athlete to be considered for the award each month.
Foster finished in the top three in each of the Cougars' final two fall tournaments and shot even or under par in two of the five rounds played in October. Foster took runner-up honors at the NCAA Division II Regional Preview Invite with a 2-over 144 (71-73). For her performance, she was named the CCAA Golfer of the Week on Oct. 15 and became CSUSM's third golfer to be honored with the award during the fall season. Foster then ended the month by placing third at the East Bay Fall Invitational with a 3-over 219 (76-73-70).
Jimenez was CSUSM's top finisher in both races for October at the CCAA Championships and the Lewis Crossover. Jimenez earned All-CCAA honors with a fourth-place finish at the CCAA Championships, finishing the 8K race in 24.37.6. In a field of 385 runners at the Lewis Crossover, Jimenez placed 18th with an 8K time of 24.28.3.
This is the first CSUSM Student-Athlete of the Month honor for both Foster and Jimenez.
